"Working in an emergency department I seldom feel my workplace is “safe”. A few years ago I had a violent encounter with a patient that thankfully turned out ok but I knew I had to do something different to keep myself and my staff and my patients safe. Training BJJ at Grace NEPA has helped me built a confident defensive blueprint that keeps me and my staff safe and helps me manage violence in a way that does no harm to my patients. I can’t stress enough how effective the techniques Jeff teaches can be in a violent encounter."

“During the fully interactive course, we all found ourselves surprised how leverage conquered strength and size when we practiced ways to defend ourselves against an attacker. You literally saw it in our faces! We learned how to be aware of our surroundings, diffuse a situation, and separate ourselves to safety. Most importantly, the team building element was priceless!”

"This has been the best program I've attended. The instructions were clear and precise and the instructors caring and understanding. This training will change the way I operate for the rest of my career."

"Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie NEPA has definitely made me feel more capable of handling difficult situations at work as a Security Officer at a Casino & Resort... (in training) You learn to stay calm under pressure, think clearly when things aren’t going your way, and keep working through the challenge rather than panicking or giving up. Those same principles carry over into the workplace by controlling intoxicated guests, disgruntled aggressive guests and hysterical guests with invalid identification checks. Whether it’s managing a conflict, dealing with tight deadlines, or adapting to unexpected changes, I feel more composed, more resilient, and more confident in my ability to navigate tough moments.”

I work third shift (overnights) and locally walking ... at night used to make me a little anxious especially if my co-worker wasn't there that night to walk in with me. There are always shady people hanging out around the hospital entrances, the ER entrance, or walking on the sidewalks at night and since we aren't allowed to carry personal protective....devices...we'll say, not even pepper spray, I would try to park as close as possible. Recently they changed the parking regulations and we aren't allowed to park close to the building any more so we have to walk a little bit of a distance to get into work at night. Since starting my training here at Gracie NEPA... I feel confident enough that I would at least be able to get away if something were to happen, or hurt somebody JUST enough to get inside or hopefully security would see what was going on. I thank Gracie NEPA and its instructors for giving me even that little bit of confidence that I'm excited and looking forward to seeing grow more and more.
